Have a Surplus of Purpose
Have you ever wondered how some people survive and thrive through adversity while others are crushed under the weight of it? Those that rise from pain with greater determination have something in common. They have a surplus of purpose. After my brother Ed died I found it nearly impossible to care about anything other than turning back the hands of time and nurturing my emotional wounds. Notice, I said nearly impossible. To me, there was no other option than to let my life’s purpose pick me up, walk me out the door, and align me with opportunities to accomplish what I was put on this earth to do. Your purpose is not something you can fabricate. It is not a wish or a result of life being easy. True and authentic purpose is found when you stop thinking about yourself and start thinking about how your gifts can serve others. Even if you can’t see it yet, there is something within you that the world needs! Instead of losing yourself in the darkness of this world, find your true self through helping others. Start by being a reason for others not to give up hope.
